Dear All,
We have received numerous complaints and suggestions from citizens about overtaking on flyovers, wrong side driving, commuters taking U-turns dangerously on flyovers. Thus to address the above issue a tender has been floated for installing dividers on the complete stretch for all the flyovers in the city.
Tendering process is underway and soon all the flyovers will have dividers. We thank you for your suggestions and inputs.
Hyderabad Traffic Police
Our flyovers are not wide enough for dividers. When dividers are installed, one way will be less than two lane width. Slow vehicles will result in traffic accumulation.
ReplyDeleteSo a minimum speed (~30-40 kmph)restriction should be made and any slow vehicle should be booked.
Slow vehicles should be forced to take the ground path.
A left lane should be marked for two & three wheelers and anybody crossing to the right lane should be booked.
We can start lane discipline this way.
all the heavy vehicles specifically trucks should not be allowed on flyovers if there is ground path, in peek hours.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with JN and Arun. Our flyovers were built for our fathers time. They're too narrow for today's traffic and dividers would make it even narrower. Further, there have been multiple occasions of vehicles breaking down on flyovers. When this happens traffic flows slightly to the right (though illegal) and continues to flow. With dividers that would not be possible and may lead to pile-ups.
ReplyDeleteOr we can prohibit heavy vehicles (buses and trucks) and auto rickshaws from taking the flyover. That should take care of 80% of vehicles that easily break down.
Also, on the entire SP road stretch, no flyover has a U-Turn prohibited sign anywhere. And the dividers lie around here and there in a careless manner, also posing additional danger for traffic.
dividers on flyovers will congest it even more and the whole purpose of de-congestion on the arterial road will not be addressed... definetly stopping vehicles to overtake on flyovers cannot be achieved through installation of dividers. Hope HTP takes up more objective and practical solutions which aim at decreasing the travel time
